    • Description:
      Revision Notes:

      • The event name for event code 10073 was changed to “Chikungunya virus diseases”.

      • The notes section for event code 10073 was edited to convey that chikungunya neuroinvasive disease and chikungunya non- neuroinvasive disease will be defined by the data elements within a case notification.

      • Chikungunya non-neuroinvasive disease, event code 11702, was removed from the list.

      • The notes section for Legionellosis was revised to remove the following statement: “These data are reported to CDC through ArboNET and should not be reported through NETSS”.

Each disease or condition reported to CDC’s National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) is assigned an event code, as per this document. Event codes are used by local, state, and federal surveillance information systems to help simplify storage and retrieval of information about cases of nationally notifiable or state reportable diseases or conditions. This event code list summarizes the verification and publication criteria used by CDC’s NNDSS.

Diseases in bold have been designated by CSTE as nationally notifiable and notification should be sent to CDC on a regular basis.
