Description:Gold is desorbed from activated carbon (loaded with aurocyanide or ca-aurocyanide) by treating the loaded carbon at 80 deg-90 deg c with a stripping solution containing a mixture of a water-soluble low aliphatic alcohol 20-30 and a strong base solution (e.g., 1-2 pct NaOH in water) 80-70 vol pct. Thus, a loaded carbon from a heap- leach, carbon-adsorption cyanide plant containing 362.9 Au and 42.9 Ag oz/ton was treated at 80 deg c with 20 bed volumes of a solution containing methyl alcohol 20-water 80 vol pct and a 10 g/l naoh solution for 5 h.
