Description:Utilies (NAICS 22): The Utilities sector comprises establishments engaged in the provision of the following utility services: electric power, natural gas, steam supply, water supply, and sewage removal. Within this sector, the specific ac..vi..es associated with the utility services provided vary by utility: electric power includes generation, transmission, and distribution; natural gas includes distribution; steam supply includes provision and/ or distribution; water supply includes treatment and distribution; and sewage removal includes collection, treatment, and disposal of waste through sewer systems and sewage treatment facilities. In 2012 there were 23,700 Illinois workers in the utilities industry. 2012 Fatal Injury Facts: There were no recorded fatal injuries in the Illinois utilities industry for 2012. 2012 Nonfatal Injury Facts: Utilities 69.7% of injured workers were male*. 45-54 year olds was the most common age group with reported injury (24%)*. Rates of injury were highest in businesses' with 50-249 workers. The back was the most commonly affected body part (n=3140)*.
