  Environmental air samples were analyzed for carbon-dioxide (124389), nitrogen-dioxide and sulfur-dioxide (7446095), and environmental temperatures determined at the Environmental Protection Agency (SIC- 9999) in San Francisco, California on April 9, 1981. A representative of the National Federation of Federal Employees, Local 1, requested the evaluation on behalf of an unspecified number of workers who complained of headaches and upper respiratory irritation. Carbon-dioxide concentrations were below the limit of detection of less than 0.1 percent. No nitrogen-dioxide and sulfur- dioxide were detected. Peak carbon-dioxide concentrations ranged from 2.0 to 3.0 parts per million (ppm), below the NIOSH recommended standard of 200ppm. The average dry bulb temperature was 72 degrees F, the wet bulb temperature was 58 degrees F, and the calculated relative humidity was 42 percent, all within recommended comfort zone ranges. The authors conclude that no environmental hazards existed at this worksite.
