• Description:
  This memorandum advised that an evaluation of possible asbestos (1332214) was made at the 105 Law Building, in Charlotte, North Carolina in response to a request from an attorney working in that building. The attorney had recently attended a conference where asbestos exposure was the major topic, and was concerned as individuals in that building, and in the office he now occupied, had died of cancer. The study consisted of eight general air samples taken in the secretary's office, the attorney's office and in adjoining offices. Bulk samples were taken from the air filter and the air duct material in the ventilation system. All area samples indicated asbestos concentrations to be lower than 0.01 asbestos fibers per cubic centimeter. No concentration of asbestos was detected in the bulk sample from the ventilation system. The author concludes that no hazard existed at this time due to asbestos exposure.
