  A project was undertaken to improve a baccalaureate program in occupational safety and health being taught at the Oklahoma State University. Graduates from this program were to be competent for industrial employment in the area of occupational safety and health. The program concentrated on the recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational hazards concerning persons, machines, and environmental relationships. During the period of the grant the faculty rose from two full time and two half time persons to four full time and and two half time persons with student enrollment increasing from 143 to 170. As the material taught became more relevant to other technical engineering disciplines, some of these courses were required by other departments, adding 120 additional students to these classes. A sampling of industries recruiting graduates and the geographic locations of these jobs were listed. Several guest lecturers addressed specialized topics such as the role of OSHA, worker compensation insurance, human factors engineering, safe handling of hazardous materials, professional development, the use of MORT in accident investigations, and systems safety in loss rate analyses.
