Description:Cu or cu alloy, low-c steel, stainless steel, ni, or ni alloy are joined together by coating the members with a thin layer of ni followed by application of a zn or zn alloy solder and appropriate fluxes containing metallic salts at a temperature of 320 deg.-500 Deg. C. The thin layer of ni constitutes a sacrificial coating in that it is absorbed into the molten solder during soldering. The method is particularly useful in the manufacture and repair of automobile radiators and utensils or appliances for home cooking. [Description provided by NIOSH]
