Description:Haul trucks are important pieces of mining equipment and vital to many surface operations. Haul trucks can also be dangerous, accounting for over 10% of all fatal accidents in mining and a significant number of nonfatal injuries. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted an analysis of fatal injuries associated with haul trucks. Researchers reviewed the fatal accident reports and determined the contributing factors for these fatalities. Over the past 20 years, haul trucks have contributed to the deaths of 152 miners. The majority of these fatal injuries were sustained by haul truck drivers. For further information on injuries to haul truck operators, please read "An Analysis of Injuries to Haul Truck Operators in the US Mining Industry". For further information on fatal haul truck injuries, please read "Patterns in mining haul truck accidents". ErgoMine is a mobile ergonomics audit for mining which can be used to audit your haul trucks and roadways.
