• Description:
  The risk to asbestos workers from exposure to amosite and chrysotile asbestos, fibrous glass, cork, plastic and adhesives is evaluated. The over all time weighted average exposure to asbestos containing materials is determined to be below the present TLV, however the incidence of radiographic changes indicative of asbestosis in over 25% of workers with 20 years or more employment suggests that the present TLV is too high. Recommendations are made for increased ventilation, substitution of materials, changes in work habits and personal respiratory protective equipment combined with education of employees to potential hazards.
